Traditional and Digital Art:

Includes a selection of traditionally rendered art using ink, pastels, paint etc and undertaken over a period of time. I have included roughs and working drawings as well as finished work.

Having always been a strictly pen and paper girl, I have been slow to catch up with the digital age when it comes to simply drawing. However, I recently purchased a Wacom Intuos digital tablet and haven been busy essentially re-learning my craft and trying to produce some work using different digital mediums within Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop, e.g. painting and airbrushing, oils, guache etc.

It has been slow progress as it is an odd thing not to feel the papers texture beneath one fingers and to try and recreate the same effects achieved traditionally. As it is a steep learning curve, new work created using this new and exciting medium will be slow in coming.

 Photography:

Having taken up photography again after a 20 year hiatus, it has now become something of an obsession and I take my camera everywhere. I love to take pictures, mostly of flowers and nature. I still count myself very much as a beginner and am always keen to learn new techniques and practice my craft.

Most of the pictures are taken around the countryside and the area in which I live in West Sussex

I hope that you like my pictures, and constructive feedback is welcomed.

The full size images are available on request as long as my terms and conditions are adhered to.

 Web Design and Downloads:

I have been a freelance web designer for about five years or so, specialising in building custom sites for small businesses, clubs and hobbyists. I produce quality sites, that are easy to navigate, clear, concise and attractive to look at. The web design section includes a portfolio showcasing web interfaces past and present.

I also will be including a section that makes available free pre-made lay-outs. These will be downloadable in a zip file. Terms and conditions of use will be made clear.

Downloads include wallpapers for desktops at resolutions of 1024x768 and 1280x1024.

About me:

My name is Lorrie, I am a 45 year old mother to a daughter and wife to Luke.

I was born and raised in Buckinghamshire in England, and did my Foundation and Diploma at Amersham College of Art, and studied Fashion Design at North East London University, though did not complete my degree. Sometimes it's a regret, but I hated my course, my tutors, fashion design etc.

I did many things, lived and worked in London for a while and in the early 90's moved down to the South Coast and studying again. I became computer literate, discovered the Internet, and gained a bunch of business qualifications.

I started studying web design seriously in about 2002/2003 and left full time work to study, then in 2004 became pregnant which sort of put a break on things.

Around this time I also got back into art more, and then about two years ago joined deviantART which was a HUGE turn around for me. I began to really get back into my craft. I took up Photography again, learnt how to use Photoshop properly, bought a Wacom Intuos, and started doing a lot more traditional art. deviantART has been a fantastic experience for me and is a great place to be inspired and learn new techniques and mediums.

So, last year we bought our own house, and despite being poor are very happy...
