My entry for Monday Mark Makers Flickr group.
‘Deep Summer is when laziness finds respectibility’ – Edward Keen
July has always been one of my favourite months. It’s sort of the midway point of summer, when the weather finally settles down and decides what it wants to do with itself, so is usually hot, but isn’t quite as sultry as August.
Exams had finished, we had all started the long vacation from University, got ourselves jobs or just decided to bum around. For me, it was about the seaside, ice creams, getting stoned, festivals, outdoor gigs, beer, picnics, and the leisurely reading of books, because I wanted to, not because I had to.
ETA:
I should mention, that this was drawn in one or Renate‘s beautiful journals I purchased last year.

Love it! :)
P.S. – Just checking if you sent the print yet as nothing has arrived?
Haha…
No..hadn’t been sent. Reasons are thus. I ordered a dark magenta which you can’t generally buy in the shops (my printer uses two!!! Dark and light) and I have just printed it. It will be winging it’s way to you tomorrow. Sorry bout that peaches xxx
No worries! I was only checking because we’ve had mail go missing in the past and that is one item I don’t want to go missing! It’ll be well worth the wait, anyway :)
Ah the joys of printer ink. We had to order some for the digital printer at work (as it had bee bleeping at us for a few days demanding we re-feed it!) and its cartridges are about a foot long! It’s a bonus to work at a printers… Cheap printing! Though I tend to stick to small quantities and print on one of the digital printers (as I can do it all myself), rather than the more expensive litho presses.
Love your July piece, and can sooo relate to your sentiments about summers from years gone by. Ah, to have my youth back; but then again, I may not survive it, if I had it to do all over again, lol. Wishing you a great summer!
Thank you Jeanne. I think we all hanker after those days, but like you…don’t have the stamina and underance.
Btw, I am now following your blog, and love your sketchbook work. You may like the new flickr group I started called Monday Mark Makers (if you are on Flickr that is).
Thanks for stopping by..
Lorrie :)
If the fog would lift here it would be warmer and feel a little more like summer. Although the fog is a norm here so I guess it does feel like summer ;)
Love the July summer doodle Lorrie! I joined the group on Flickr too.
Hey there Jess…
As it happens, the weather here has taken a turn. I am in fact looking out of the window at grey skies, and imminent rain. One shouldn’t tempt fate huh?
Thanks for joining the group. It’s meant to be a bit of fun, and encourage regular doodlage. I do enjoy seeing peoples stuff as well.
xxx
The sun is beginning to peek through the fog cover here… I hope it comes out. It’s been a week of straight grey, rain and fog.
Have a good day sweetie!
It’s raining here now, and you have a good day too sweety.xx
I can’t really say I like July. At least, with the heat we have here for days now …
But I LOVE the sketch. And it makes me proud that it’s in a book I made. Ha! :D
Thank you Renate. Our heatwave seems to have come to an abrupt halt. I am in fact, watching the rain, but…it is still hot.
I think my doodle works very well in this journal. Thank you. Oh, and btw, my friend (did I tell you this) LOVED her journal. I will blog about it soon, promise.xxx
