Dearest Nature
A couple of weeks ago I approached the recently launched arts magazine Dearest Nature and submitted some work, and links to my photography, in the hope that something of mine might be included at a later date. I was thrilled when I heard back quite quickly from Donaville Herrick, who asked if they could include my ‘For-get-me-not’ shot in a future feature in May, and I was naturally delighted. However, Donaville contacted me this week and told me they were using the shot for their ‘Favourite Things‘ feature and would be using another one of my photographic pieces in May. Yippppeee! Just the sort of good news one needs on grey and rainy days.
Dearest Nature is the creation of Californian based designer, maker and busy Mum Donaville Herrick, and the magazine is specifically aimed at art, design, craft, food and photography that takes it’s inspiration from nature. Dearest Nature have a fabulous group of contributors, including good pal and talented paper-cut artist Jonathan Chapman aka mr-yen.
So, go have a look at the gorgeousness that is ‘Dearest Nature‘ and submit your work, they are very friendly and approachable. The magazine is beautifully and tastefully designed, chic, stylish and contemporary.
Carpe Diem
I drew this last week on my birthday and finished it a couple of days ago. It pretty much sums up my state of mind at the moment and my current ethos, so this is a case of the art speaking for itself. Created with a 1.0 sepia micron pigment liner on heavy weight paper.
Birthday Happies + Instagram
Yep, big old birthday celebrations for moi. Lots and lots of birthday goodies, love and warm fuzzies from friends and family. We were meant to go to Kew Gardens today, but the weather wasn’t good and I was tired so we are going next week. Luke took me out for a fabulous lunch in Chichester, piccies are below taken with Instagram.
Oh and yep, there is now an Instagram app for Android. Instagram incidentally was the only thing that tempted me to get an iPhone (cos you know, it’s a photographic doodad). Buuuut not enough to buy one in the end, I bought an HTC Desire S with Android instead (waaaaaay better, believe me). And now there is an Instagram app for Android, so…kewl! Incidentally, all the iPhone and iPad owners are kicking off and throwing their toys out of the cot because they now don’t have sole use of the app anymore. *tsk*
Oh, and my Birthday haul of goodies included the following so far:
1. HUGE box of Maltesers (Orla)
2. ‘Pictish Symbol Stones of Scotland’. (Luke)
3. ‘The Complete Guide to Designing and Printing Fabric’. (Luke)
4. ‘V&A Pattern: Box Set II’ (Luke)
5. X-Men First Class DVD (Luke)
6. Cath Kidston hand lotion (Nicky)
7. Bluebell and Buttercup candle in a tin (Orla)
