Inkygoodness Beermat Character Exhibition

Last year as you may remember, I entered the Beermat Character Design competition run by Inkygoodness. One of my designs (the skull below) was selected to be included in the up coming exhibition. Well, the exhibition is taking place from April 29th – 4th May, 2013 at the Coningsby Gallery. So, if you would like to see my design (framed and which is for sale btw) and all the other amazing designs, including illustrated playing cards (the Poop Deck Project) from Ammo Magazine, then trot by if you can, you wont be disappointed. A Walk in the Woods…

Weather wise, things have come to such a pass here in the UK, that if you see even a glimmer of sun and a good day, you go out. So, this weekend we did, and I took my camera. There is little greenery to be seen still, but there are now buds on the trees, and some signs of life. However, the barrenest of the trees with the sun upon them have a peculiar stark beauty. Here are some of my favourites, the rest are on Flickr.

Well, given the absolutely shocking weather I have been unable to get out with my camera and take some Spring shots, not that it would have done me a bit of good, for other than a few daffodils there are few flowers to photograph. So, I had a look through my shots from this time last year, and have used a couple of blossom captures, one of Hawthorn blossom and one proper Sakura cherry blossom. As usual two resolutions available,1290×1080 and 1366×768. Right click, open the image in a new tab and then set as desktop background. Hope you like…

Forest Frenzy – Pattern Design on Society6

Finally finished this today. Originally drawn by hand, scanned and vectorized in Illustrator, then digitally coloured, which took some time!!! Available now as a print, iphone cover, cushion, tee shirt etc in my Society6 Shop.

Have to say, I am really pleased with how it came out, as this is the first time I have converted one of my hand drawn pieces to vector, which is great as it can be enlarged to any size. I think it looks lovely as an iphone cover and cushion too.

Finally finished and coming to a store near you soon…
Drawn in ink freehand (apart from the lettering), and then coloured the lettering digitally. Original piece was created on smooth heavy weight bristol board. Lots of fun and so onto the next project. Oh, and this was a quote from Albert Einstein. I believe what he meant was, that you can’t have one without the other. All great inventions, discoveries etc, require that visionary leap. Well, it’s been quite a while since I did any desktop calendars, mostly because of the terrible winter, rain etc that we have had to endure for the last few months and I simply haven’t been out with my camera. Signs of Spring

Spring is without doubt my favourite time of year. Not only was I born in the Spring, but this season sees the burgeoning of my favourite flowers, Crocuses, Daffodils and the tiny and beautifully perfect…Snowdrop. Sadly, in Britain the tiny Snowdrop is seen less and less, but, when they appear I try to get some good shots. My friend Nicky has a lovely garden, and one corner under the trees always produces a lovely crop of Snowdrops and Crocuses. So, thank you Nicky for once again allowing me free reign in your lovely garden.
