FAQ: About Websites
- Setting up a website: Setting up a website is pretty easy. As outlined
in the section 'Our Rates', all you need to do
is to give me an idea of what you have in mind, I can then put together a
quote for you. Then, once we have established exactly what you want and how
you want it to look, and have made the decision to go ahead, then I will register
your domain name, set up the hosting and prepare a draft design for you. Also,
if you have already registered a domain, I will take care of the transfer
to the webhosting.
- How long will it take: This will depend on the size and complexity
of the website. A small website that only consists of two or three pages could
take as little as a few days. However, a site that consists of twenty to thirty
pages could take two weeks to a month to build. My aim would be to get your
site online as soon as possible whilst ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Web Hosting: Though this is not a service I provide, I would ensure
that a suitable and cost effective package is chosen with care to suit your
needs.
- Search Engines: As part of the service, I will register your site
with all of the major search engines. All search engines have a different
criteria for ranking, however, I will endeavour to ensure that your site is
designed with thought and care to ensure that you attain the best ranking
possible. I will undertake to do this more than once to ensure your site is
included as soon as possible. It is worth noting that some search engines
charge a fee. If it was your wish to be included on a search engine that charges,
then this can be looked into.
- Re-designing an established website: If you have an existing site
that you wish to be given a 'make-over', then this is a service I can provide.
Using existing graphics and text, whilst giving the whole site a whole 'new
look' that is both professional and attractive to the eye
- The finished product: Once I have prepared a draft design, the draft
will then be put on a test site for you to view, and I will provide up to
two revisions before the final version is approved and goes online.
